The Telecoms Operator in 2013 28 April – 2 May, Live on Web(€1475 + VAT) (Book by 14 April, €1325 + VAT)Operators have focused on maximising revenues and profits from traditional telco services – voice, sms and “data” – but now need to successfully embrace the new services and capabilities that are at the heart of the wider ICT industry. Those concepts include communication and information exchange via social networking; an anticipated explosion of machine to machine applications; video – the major driver of traffic on broadband networks; and the application store. Add in wholesale; payments; advertising; cloud technology; and convergence, and the telco has a whole range of exciting new opportunities to focus on going forward. This programme looks at the major trends and developments within the industry, highlighting what they mean for a modern telecommunications operator and their customers. We set out the role of the telco in the new business environment and highlight the key enablers for success – including the technologies and partnerships that need to be adopted.Click here for full details of the programme and to register
Cloud for Telecoms Operators 28 April – 2 May, Live on Web(€1475 + VAT) (Book by 14 April, €1325 + VAT)This programme looks at cloud services and technology and explains in detail what it means for both the cloud services provider and the customer. We start with the concepts and features of cloud services before looking at the underlying technology and architecture that underpins the cloud, as well as the business drivers/issues facing businesses and consumers when migrating to the cloud. The features and benefits of the cloud are then considered in more detail, highlighting the opportunities for telecoms operators as cloud service providers, the business models available, the likely position within the value chain, implementation options and the foundations on which the telecoms operator’s secure cloud services can be built.Services and deployment models are explored and discussed in sufficient depth to enable participants to assess the full implications and impact on the wider network from both a cloud service user and cloud service provider perspective.
LTE Technical Overview 7-10 May, Live on Web(€1475 + VAT) (Book by 24 April, €1325 + VAT)The delegate will gain an in depth appreciation of the architecture and operation of the LTE system including the OFDM based radio interface. As an introduction, the business of LTE and the evolution of mobile broadband are examined. Possible LTE services are discussed and then used to describe the capabilities required of the radio and core network components. The architecture of the release 8 LTE network (SAE) is explained and the functions of each network node, MME S-GW, P-GW, eNB and interfaces X2 and S1 are discussed. The radio interface is based on OFDMA and supports advanced features such as MIMO and interference management. These concepts are explained, as well as other radio related topics such as IMT spectrum allocations. The LTE protocol stack and LTE procedures are also covered.
